CHICAGO: The Punjabi Cultural Society of Chicago (PCS) flagship annual event “Rangla Punjab 2016” to celebrate Vaisakhi festival is slated to be on Saturday, April 23 at Meadows Club Banquet Hall, 2950 W. Golf Road, Rolling Meadows, Illinois. (http://themeadowsclub. com/web)
The doors open at 6 p.m. and the program begins at 7 p.m. sharp. About 25 performing arts items will be presented.
Preparations are underway. PCS officials, items coordinators, and volunteers are working very hard to teach our youth and young children’s groups Punjabi cultural dances. Many Bhangra and Gidha teams and musical items being prepared now will be performed at Rangla Punjab. During these practices and “Rangla Punjab” the Punjabi children come closer to Punjabi language, Punjabi culture and also make Punjabi friends.
Vaisakhi festival is the celebration of completion of harvest season, and beginning of a new cycle. It’s a symbol of renewal, and also a new year.
Punjabi Cultural Society of Chicago (PCS) has been organizing this traditional Punjabi cultural program titled “Rangla Punjab” for more than two decades. This is the single largest annual Punjabi cultural variety event in Chicago area that show cases the Punjabi performing arts and promotes the local community talent. A gathering of 1000 is expected where more than 250 local artists from Illinois, Wisconsin, and Indiana will display their best. Popular Punjabi dances Bhangra and Giddha, Punjabi music and songs, comedy skits, poetry, and many other items will be presented.
Parking is free and children under 10 are admitted free. General admission ticket for the show is $15 each. Middle reserved section seats are $40 each with first come first seated basis. Front section rows with reserved seats for Donors-$100 and VIP tickets include a Punjabi dinner.
