“On behalf of the Government of Canada, Sophie and I offer our condolences and prayers to the families and friends of those lost today, and wish a full recovery to all those injured. We stand in solidarity with Orlando and the LGBTQ2 community.

“I was horrified by the news this morning that at least 50 people were killed and countless others injured in what appears to be the deliberate targeting of Pulse, a gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida. ‎This attack is a reminder that we must remain steadfast and strongly condemn terrorism, in all its forms, around the world.

“I commend the heroic actions of the law enforcement officers who responded to this attack. I also send my prayers and deepest condolences to the families of the victims and wish a swift recovery to those injured.
